The Latest from Hilliard Management

We recently began working with a family that purchased a property in NW Albemarle renovating and improving a 120-acre farm.

Before buying their property they had been searching for a midsize property that they could make their own. Although they looked at a number of farms with great individual attributes – views, size, house, location – none of them fit their criteria as a whole.

After consulting with us they decided to take a new approach – what about buying an under-improved farm with deferred maintenance? The money saved on the purchase price could be budgeted towards the improvements that they wanted most, and more importantly, would use most as a family.

Since beginning our relationship we have helped them clarify end goals and develop an actionable plan aimed at achieving their goals. In other words, Comprehensive Planning in its truest form. Improving and customizing 120 acres is a daunting task. Piecing the puzzle together – while staying within budget – only adds to it.

Keep up with us through this project as we phase in improvements and create a custom farm with our clients.
